News Polygon Software Announces Key Technology Enhancements to PolyPM Budgeting Extension Helps Brands and Manufacturers Control Costs from Style Concept Through Production Baltimore, MD -- March 1, 2007 -- Polygon Software, the first developer to combine Product Data Management (PDM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) into a single solution for small to mid-sized brands and manufacturers, today announced a series of new technology enhancements to its flagship product, PolyPM. PolyPM’s new Budgeting module helps businesses control costs by enabling users to establish budgets for new Styles/Products and then applying the budgets throughout the entire design through production process. Brands and manufacturers continually face the dilemma of defining products at one cost and then finding out that production costs were significantly higher. Conversely, many businesses are unable to track their actual costs to produce a garment. PolyPM’s Budgeting module enables a business to quote a style at a specific price, establish a budget for each of the materials, and then enforce cost controls to ensure that the “actual” cost of the style is delivered within budget. Features in the Budgeting module include: - Independent budget/quote styles that enable a user to establish generic raw material, labor, and duty/tariff components for a style with assigned costs and consumptions for each component. - Production styles with an automatic association to a budget style, preventing the product developer from specifying components, costs, or consumptions that haven’t already been defined in the budget style. - Purchase checking that prevents materials from being purchased that exceed either the costs or needed materials. - Receiving restrictions that prevent clerks from receiving more materials than are needed for a production order. Web-enabled, using Microsoft SQL database engine, PolyPM integrates all aspects of the design through production process: product development, sourcing, manufacturing, inventory, sales and distribution. By integrating business processes and people anywhere in the world, businesses use PolyPM to realize more efficient work flow, improved productivity and cost reductions. PolyPM creates an environment that lets management get decision making information when and how it needs it, to ensure faster time-to-market and exploit new business opportunities. Plus, PolyPM is flexible enough to change with business conditions, so management won’t need a cadre of programmers to customize and restructure the system as business conditions change. About Polygon Software Polygon Software has a long and prestigious history of developing advanced software applications for apparel manufacturers. Starting in the 1970’s, the founders of Polygon developed the first CAD/CAM system for apparel manufacturers, the AM-1. Today this system is the worlds leading apparel CAD/CAM system marketed by Gerber Technology. In the 1980’s Polygon introduced PolyNest, the first open apparel CAD/CAM software running under Microsoft Windows. PolyNest revolutionized the way apparel CAD was distributed by enabling end-users to acquire their software and hardware from multiple sources. Polygon's latest product, PolyPM, is the first product to integrate PDM and ERP into a single solution, automating the transition from design to manufacturing. PolyPM transforms the way small to mid-sized brands, distributors and manufacturers operate, by providing information technology that previously was only available to the “big-guys”, in a system that lets users independently customize their installation to reflect their business practices.
